Summertime at Haven

A little life spent. While I was watering the tomatoes last night I spotted this Stag beetle at the bottom of one of my plant pots. Dead:(

I felt the loss because they are endangered and also remarkable creatures.
They pupate for 5 whole years underground before they emerge briefly to mate and then they die.

Did this lad even have time to smell the roses?.. let alone get the chance to signal to a female and 'get it together', before he met his untimely end in my pot?! I so hope so.

I was shocked when I saw that I haven't posted anything since January!
Life has robbed me of time and then not posting becomes a habit.
I'm breaking that habit and will be visiting you again soon.
I miss my blogging friends.

The garden has flourished this year and is a riot of colour.

Tortoise Fred is in there somewhere....
... Oh, here he is!

... and here are Mr Darcy and My Bingley..
Tails of greeting.

  4. Was thrilled to get a note from you, as I always am but it's been a while. I haven't blogged a lot lately and it seems you've been busy too.

I had to find out who Fred was .. how cute.

Love the garden. I wish I could do that in my woods but no, I have trouble growing weeds .. lol

At the beach, where I am now, I have containers on my upper deck, as the deer love to eat everything in my lower yard. Mine don't read .. meaning they eat everything even if it says they won't.

Give D & B a pet from me and give Fred some lettuce .. lol

We are very sorry to hear about that beetle. We do hope he had a chance to do what beetles do before he passed.

Yes, I totally understand about life filling in every corner and pretty soon blogging seems a whiff of the past, even though blogging is one of my favourite things. But without regrets, here we are again. Lovely to visit with you, Helen!

So glad to catch a glimpse of your beautiful garden, Fred, and the purry lads. Everyone seems well!

Sending hugs and wishes for a beautiful day,
