We have all been down to Cornwall  to visit Aunt.
While down there it was the weekend of the RSPB Garden Bird Count!

We assisted Mrs H in taking part...

We counted for one whole hour!
Birdie spotting for a purpose! Bliss.

This is us part way into the count.
Admittedly, we were occasionally distracted by our edible cat grass
(Mrs H is growing it for us so we have something to chew inside)

Darcy
...no longer able to hold back.....

Bingley                                             Darcy

The birdie count wore us out!
But we are special cats and can dream (of birdies) and count at the same time!

RESULTS
Blackbirds x 2 (female/male)
Black Cap x 1
Hedge Sparrow x 4
Coal Tit x 2
Finch x 1
Wren x 1

If you took part, do let us know what you spotted!

  2. And Mommy said to tell you she is everlastingly grateful that your mommy still has the medal that Admiral made for you boys. Thanks you. Admiral always looked and always smiled. xoxoxox

  3. Oh, Bingley and Darcy I'm sure you enjoyed your birdie count! We counted 1 robin, 3 blackbirds (all male) 12 sparrows, 1 dunnock, 1 wood pigeon and 3 starlings. The thrush that visits everyday didn't appear in our hour of watching neither did the bullfinch we'd seen just a couple of days before:)

  4. Even though you were sometimes distracted, you did a good job! That's quite a few different birds you recorded. :)

  5. We didn't take part, but we didn't see anything at our house, but the old crows. They don't even look tasty. MOL!

  8. From our view, all we see are big, black, NOISY cawing crows. Ugh.

  10. Ahhhh... bliss after all that work counting (and keeping paws off is such hard work when it comes to birdies)....

    Lads, you did well!

I've never participated in a bird count, but I think it would be a great way to spend a day.

Sounds like you all had fun!

  12. Bird counting sounds fun. And you got very impressive result! We have birds coming near our house in spring but not winter.
I hope you got a long good nap after that and had very sweet dreams :-)

Black caps and hedge sparrows!! We love blackbirds too (they do sing most gorgeously!) but it's so nice to have these more unusual ones too - well unusual here! LOL!

    Take care
